“Open Tourism” Project, which is funded by Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro and implemented by Union of municipalities “Lands of Sea and Sun” – Eastern area of the province of Taranto, in the role of the Leading Partner as well as Union of Municipalities of Biferno springs, The Book City Foundation – Onlus Old, Fier Municipality, Center for Economic Development and International Relations and Royal Capital Cetinje, in the role of project partners.
In the frame of the project on June 13-14, 2019, a Steering Committee Meeting was hosted in Tirana by the Center for Economic Development and International Relations (CEDIR), with participation of representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE), National Tourism Agency (NTA), Torricella Municipality and Fier Municipality together with Project experts involved in project implementation.
The “Open Tourism” project overall objective is to develop and implement a cross-border public-private cooperation strategy to promote and enhance cultural and natural heritage and the sustainable economic and social development of territories involved. The main output of the project is the Open Tourism Service, a widespread tourist information and welcome service which is constituted by a new cross-border governance model, a set of shared innovative products (Platform, APP, itineraries, brand, etc.) and a Circuit of informal information and welcome points constituted by economic operators in partner territories.
The aim of this event was to share between partners and involved stakeholders an overview of the activities taken place in the frame of the Open Tourism Project with special focus on Tourism Promotion, Cross-border Model for Sustainable Tourism, aiming to develop and implement a cross-border public-private cooperation strategy to promote and enhance local heritage and favor economic and social development.
The meeting was a great opportunity for all involved stakeholders to meet, interact and share expectations of the project.
